Walk The Board

Yesterday Theresa May decided to test her grasp on the UK by calling a snap general election, citing division over Brexit as the reason behind it. Now we are waiting on a vote by MP’s, of which two thirds must approve the measure, to say whether we will ultimately have the election.

Of course, it is Theresa May’s ambition for a bigger majority within her own party that is likely to be the main reason, as she seeks a bigger mandate to pursue her own Brexit. There should be no doubt that this is not the case of politicians putting their country first. As there is only a slim Conservative majority, there is a higher chance of scrutiny and moderation because May needs to ensure she gets all of her MP’s on her side.
